Water Resistance and water proof disclaimer
When a fabric is rated “Water Resistance: 17 L/m²”, it means that the material can resist up to 17 litres of water per square meter before it begins to let water pass through.
Here’s what that means in practical terms for rain based on 20%+ slope:
•Light rain or drizzle: The fabric will stay completely dry and keep water out easily.
•Moderate rain: It should still resist penetration for a while, especially if it has a surface coating (like PU or DWR).
•Heavy or prolonged rain: The fabric may eventually start to soak through, as 17 L/m² is a moderate water resistance, not a fully waterproof rating.
For comparison:
•Water-resistant fabrics are typically rated around 5–20 L/m².
•Waterproof fabrics (for tents or outdoor gear) are often tested using hydrostatic head pressure and rated above 1000 mm (≈100 L/m²) or more.

A 17 L/m² rating means the material provides decent protection against light to moderate rain, but not full waterproofing for heavy or extended rainfall.

The main difference between the awnings' polyester and acrylic fabrics is that PU coated polyester is more breathable and acrylic is a better insulator. Both fabrics are synthetic, manufactured out of petroleum.

Which fabric should I choose for my awnings?
The right fabric depends on how you plan to use your awning.
If you're using it for a shop or plan to keep the awning open for extended periods in frequent sunshine, we recommend acrylic fabric. It’s more durable and designed to withstand long-term exposure to the elements — this is also reflected in its higher price.
However, if the awning will be used in a garden or home setting, mainly for occasional use to enjoy the sun or light rain, polyester fabric is a great option. It provides reliable shade and comfort at a more affordable price.
2. Are the awnings waterproof ?
Our awnings are water-resistant, but not fully waterproof. The fabrics are primarily designed to provide protection from the sun, but they can also handle light to moderate rain. For detailed information about each fabric's level of water resistance, please refer to the individual product descriptions.
3. How to connect the Wind Sun Rain Sensor to the Awnings?
Your installer can usually set up the wind sensor during the awning installation.
If you've received the sensor separately and need to pair it yourself, follow these steps:
Open the back flap of your remote control.
Press the P2 button (located in the top left corner) twice quickly.
Ensure the wind sensor is turned ON, then press the P2 button on the sensor once.
If the pairing is successful, a blinking Wi-Fi icon will appear on the sensor to confirm the connection.
4. How to check the wind sensor is connected?
To test the wind sensor (ideally during daylight, preferably with some sunlight):
Use the remote control to slightly open the awning.
Manually spin the wind sensor's cups (the small spinning spoons) for at least 12 seconds.
If the sensor is properly connected, the awning should begin retracting automatically.
This confirms that the wind sensor is working.
You can also manually test the sun and rain sensor functions, if needed.
5. Do electric motorised awnings come with a manual crank?
Yes, all of our electric awnings include a detachable manual crank handle, allowing you to operate the awning manually in the event of a power outage.
Please note: If you use the manual crank, you may need to readjust the awning’s minimum and maximum projection settings using the Allen key provided.

6. Can awning be installed on a holo brick wall ?
Yes, installation on a hollow brick wall is possible. However, before proceeding, our certified installers can carry out a free on-site assessment to check the wall’s suitability. If needed, they may recommend additional safety fittings or reinforcement measures to ensure a secure installation.
If you’ve ordered your awning with our installation service and it turns out that installation is not possible due to the wall condition, we will arrange the return of the awning at no extra cost, and you will receive a full refund — including the survey and return delivery.
7. What is the delivery and installation lead time?
All our awnings are stocked in a UK-based warehouse (location details available at the bottom of this page).
Delivery typically takes between 2 to 10 working days, depending on driver availability and scheduling in your area. Whenever possible, we aim to offer same-day delivery and installation for added convenience. A pre-installation check will be carried out before any fitting begins.
The standard installation process usually takes between 3 to 5 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the awning.
8. What are the dimesions of the bracket for the full cassette awnings?
The main plate size is 15cm X 15cm.
9. What is the maximum Wind Speed an awning can withstand?
Please refer to the product description for specific details regarding each awning model.
Our awnings are designed to endure wind speeds of up to 20mph (32km/h), which is roughly the strength of a fresh breeze. However, this rating assumes consistent, steady winds. Sudden gusts, turbulent air, or irregular wind patterns can pose a much greater risk and potentially damage the awning.
Wind direction is also an important factor. Winds blowing upward (from below the awning) are particularly dangerous and can cause more strain than horizontal gusts.
All our awnings are reliability-tested in controlled environments at wind speeds up to 20mph (32km/h). However, these tests do not simulate extended exposure or unpredictable gusts, which may cause damage even within rated limits.
To protect your awning, we strongly advise retracting it in winds stronger than 20mph, regardless of how robust the structure or fabric may be.
10. Troubleshooting - Electric awning stops midway
If your electric awning stops operating halfway, it’s likely due to motor overheating. Don’t worry—this is a built-in self-protection feature designed to prevent damage. The awning will automatically reset and become operational again after approximately 30 minutes.
To assist the reset, you can unplug the awning from the power source, wait 30 minutes, and then plug it back in. This often helps clear minor issues.
Common Cause: Overheating Due to Improper Retraction Settings
Overheating typically occurs when the minimum retraction limit is set too far back (a negative position). You can identify this by listening to the awning when it fully retracts:
If the motor continues to hum or "buzz" after the awning is fully closed, it means the engine is still under pressure.
In this case, the minimum stop point needs manual adjustment to prevent the motor from overworking.
Important Note:
If your awning has been manually cranked—for example, during a power outage—you will also need to re-adjust the minimum and maximum extension limits using the Allen key provided.
12. Do Awnings require regular maintenance?
Yes, awnings benefit from regular maintenance and occasional adjustments to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Over time, especially after exposure to strong winds or sudden gusts, the angle of the awning may shift slightly.
We recommend checking and adjusting the awning’s positioning at least every six months to maintain stability and proper function. This small effort can help prevent long-term issues and keep your awning in excellent condition.
13. Warranty on Awnings

1. Manufacturing Guarantee
We guarantee that our retractable awnings are free from manufacturing defects. This includes issues such as:
• Scratches on Inner Parts: Any scratches or damages found on the inner parts of the awning that are not a result of delivery will be covered under this guarantee.
• Incorrect Parts: If any incorrect parts have been manufactured and supplied, we will promptly replace them at no additional cost.
This Manufacturing Guarantee is valid for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase.
2. Coverage Exclusions
Please note that our guarantee does not cover the following:
• Broken Parts During Usage: Any parts that become broken or damaged as a result of regular use, misuse, or external factors are not covered under this guarantee. However, we offer replacement parts at a fair and reasonable price.
• Fabric Guarantee: The fabric of the retractable awning is covered under our guarantee for 14 days from the date of purchase. After this period, the fabric is not covered under any guarantee.
3. Installation Services
Intelroll Global Ltd. is a retail company, and we do not offer installation services. However, we can recommend trusted installers in your area. Please note that any installation services provided by third parties are not covered under this Guarantee Policy.
If you require an installer, a call-out charge starting from £90 will apply, depending on your location. The final cost will be confirmed by the installer directly.

14. Process of installation payment, returns, callouts & reschedules?
To proceed with the installation of your patio awning, a deposit payment must be made via our Awning Installation Payment page.
Once the installation has been successfully completed and you're satisfied with the work, please send us a confirmation message, authorising the release of funds to the third-party installation team.
What’s Included in the Installation Fee:
Labour and on-site work
Up to 2 tubes of epoxy resin (sufficient for 2 brackets)
Additional fixings (screws, bolts, nuts, washers)
Threaded rod cutting if required
Custom adjustments and levelling
Certificate of installation
This price applies only to awnings ordered directly from Intelroll Global and must be paid before the delivery date. Orders placed after delivery may incur additional fees depending on location or callout requirements.

Removal or disposal of existing awnings (£75 if requested)
Victorian style awnings or Dutch canopies are excluded
Callouts after installation or adjustment visits (£75 per callout)

Installers typically charge £75 for the removal of a previous awning. This only applies if the new installation takes place at the same time and property.

15. Does the order include the installation cost, and does the installation payment cover delivery?
Please note that installation is not included in the price of the awning order. We work in partnership with an independent third-party installation company, and if you would like to book their service, the installation fee must be paid separately through our secure payment link.
Additionally, the installation payment only covers the cost of the installation itself and does not include delivery charges. Delivery is a separate service and will be calculated at checkout based on your location.

17. What is the return policy for Sun Shade Sail Poles and Kits??
Returns for Sun Shade Sail Poles and Kits are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Unfortunately, we are unable to process returns after this period. Please ensure all items are unused, in their original condition, and returned with all components included.
18. The awning produces a bad noise (like creaking or cracking) when opening or shutting. What’s the solution?

This issue is typically caused by dry or slightly misaligned arm joints. The noise comes from friction at the arm’s connection points. You can resolve it easily by applying a small amount of lubricant to the key areas:

✅ Lubricate the following 3 positions:
The joint near the cassette housing (where the arm connects to the body)
The central elbow joint of the arm
The end tip where the arm supports the front bar
Make sure to also apply a little lubricant to the cables, if your model has tension cables inside the arm.
🔧 Tip: Use a silicone-based spray or similar non-corrosive lubricant. Avoid grease that collects dirt or clogs.

The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 star is that this company does not answer phone calls or whatsapp chats despite advertising their number in their contact details. They will expect you to have all communication done via email, so if you have any burning question you would rather speak to them about on the phone, they will not answer and will have no choice than using emails hoping they will swiftly answer.
An example was that I was told by email on a Sunday at 8.55am, the day before a bank holiday, that there was ‘a possibility’ they could anticipate my installation to the next day, on the Monday bank holiday, and asking if in case I was available. I immediately replied Yes to it and as it was ‘a possibility’ I asked for definite confirmation and the time window (AM or PM?) the installation would have happened so I could arrange my day. They did not come back to me the all day. The next day again no reply at all to emails or my calls. By 2pm none had come so I gave up on expecting the installation was going ahead on a bank holiday. To my surprise at 3pm Toni rang my door to install. I was pleased the installation could go ahead in the end but with no confirmation I could have gone out. Customers should not be left waiting and wondering without knowing, if I had to work on the day it would have been really difficult without knowing the time. It is just a matter of courtesy.

Following a great deal of comparison with other awnings on offer, I ordered an INT 500 3.5 x 3m from Intelroll on Wednesday evening and it was delivered AND installed on the Saturday morning. What fabulous service !! Yes, we perhaps landed lucky that there were other installs in relatively close area that day. It must be said that Intelroll’s communication at each stage was excellent.
Toni, the installer, was such a pleasant guy who obviously knew exactly what he was doing. He carried out a hassle-free install which was absolutely spot-on first time. He patiently explained and demonstrated the operation of the unit and gave advice on getting the best out of our new awning.

Thankfully didn’t bring with him a huge radio to play as loud as possible- like a lot of workpeople. Whilst I have only used the awnings a few times so far, they have been brilliant and do just what I was hoping for. To add a couple of thoughts on now I have the experience of using them, I think I would have saved to buy the electrical open/close version. I have two, 3 meter width awnings and whilst they open with easy, closing them takes a little more energy. This is nothing against what I have – just a thought for those about to invest. It may be that 2 meter width awnings would be easier to close.

My only disapointment was that the fitter did not hard wire the Power supply into the house, that is down to us we where told (so extra wiring costs involved)
Also the cable & plug lead from the Awing is like 1.5mts long Why ????? the Awning is 2.4mts High from ground level so we now need to have external junction box with extra cable running into house. (For the money you would exspect a Lead long enough to plug in 4mts +)
Overall a Great Product for once, very pleased just the one small Lead issue which is why its a 4 not a 5 Star Product.

Very straight on paddling. I think because of the common design head, lifted head, and 3 fins. Easy to inflate until 12 PSI .. after that you have to turn off the double action pump function to be simple.

I am very happy to let you have a review of the patio awning that you supplied – in general I have been very pleased with both the product and the quick delivery service.
I ordered the INT 500 – Full Cassette Heavy Duty Patio Awning, manual control with grey frame. The awning was 5.0m wide and extended out 3.5m.
I have been delighted with both the product and the speed of delivery, which took place within 24 hours of placing the order.
The awning extends quite easily with the handle provided and covers the entire area of our outdoor seating arrangement as can be seen from the photographs.
The only niggle is that the winding handle and the hook that it links into are coloured white, whereas the cassette itself and the material is a dark grey. A matching handle would have been a better option. Otherwise, delighted.

I found the team at Intelroll easy to contact and quick to respond. The awning arrived as promised and was relatively easy to install. The mounting brackets can be fitted by one person but beware the awning itself is very heavy and takes a minimum of two people to lift and fit. The only slight issue we had was that the fitted cable was too short to reach the plug socket directly below, so we wired it to an external fused switch and then down to the socket. The awning looks great fitted and the operation is smooth and quiet, it also extends a long way out providing plenty of shade to sit under. We have been using it for a couple of months now with no problems at all.

Where we have put the Awning it gives us shade when the sun is high during the day. Pleased with it so far. It comes out quite easily but takes much more strength to roll it back in. If it get too hard we will consider replacing with an electric version. We also bought a cover for it for the winter as it seems too heavy and too big to take down to store as suggested in the instructions.

It was delivered very quickly on the day my grandson was there to help. We measure out where it was to go I have a brickwork house mark where brackets go piloted a 7mm hole first then the 14mm unfortunately the brick in the wall are hollow so I got some epoxy resin filled the hollow then put the bolts inlet it cure put the bracket on tightened the bolts solid the other bolts missed the hollow offered the framework & canvas up to the brackets slipped in easily the outside bolts slipping easy the middle bolt was tight due to the bend in the wall so we had to tap the frame we are only taking about a 1mm and secured. I kept the canvas in while trying to adjust for a lower pitch (mistake) let the canvas out to adjust the the pitch on either side you can level the front at this point you can eye it through by eyeing the front with back. The canopy has shaded the window at the front of south facing house.the canopy looks good well pleased

Got the electric one, definitely recommend if you have somewhere to plug it in but the cable is fairly short and can be very inconvinient. Might want to get a garden electric supply installed along with the awnings, otherwise you’ll be plugging and unplugging it all the time into an extension lead like I have to for the moment. Works great, had no issues so far, but will update review if anything comes up. UPDATE: 2 months in, mothing so far, stil works just as well.

The blind is just what I needed and expected. At 3.5 meters long it is getting heavy to lift but two strong people managed it without any problems. The fitting is very easy, if you take the time to fit the brackets level and securely. I did but I would imagine that if the brackets were out of line by a couple of mm it would cause you a lot of problems. The angle adjustment looks easy but I haven’t needed this. The blind is a nice colour and will give the grandchildren some shade over there sand and water. A slip on cover to put on the rolled up blind when it’s on the wall would keep it in prestine condition.

Its definitely a 2 person job to put this awning up, but after getting centre bracket in place it was straightforward. I still have to adjust the angle of awning, but that can wait. Only thing I cant see is the spirit level that should be on the front bar, but I will check when making final adjustments. Overall it’s a great item.

Put average as once it’s up it’s fine it’s just getting it up.We live in a bungalow with an overhang so restricted to the height whilst on a house it doesn’t matter if it’s a bit high it still work but with a bungalow it’s not the case. If the instructions were better with more detail it would have helped, once you drill you’ve used your rawl plugs !! Now we have adjusted the fitting which was a bit tricky it is great
