1. Fabric Type: Polyester or Acrylic?

The main difference between the awnings' polyester and acrylic fabrics is that PU coated polyester is more breathable and acrylic is a better insulator. Both fabrics are synthetic, manufactured out of petroleum.

  • Easier to clean
  • Cheaper

CONs:

  • Material is 280gsm - 299gsm (thin).
  • Wrinkles stays longer (if any)
  • Limited colour variants
  • The colour can fade under strong sunshine in time

Acrylic fabric

PROs:

  • Washable in washing machine
  • Material is thicker from 320gsm
  • Hard to get wrinkles
  • Wide range of colour variants
  • Colour stays even under a strong sunshine

CONs:

  • Higher price
  • Less waterproof (still water resistant)

Which fabric should I choose for my awnings? 

The right fabric depends on how you plan to use your awning.

If you're using it for a shop or plan to keep the awning open for extended periods in frequent sunshine, we recommend acrylic fabric. It’s more durable and designed to withstand long-term exposure to the elements — this is also reflected in its higher price.

However, if the awning will be used in a garden or home setting, mainly for occasional use to enjoy the sun or light rain, polyester fabric is a great option. It provides reliable shade and comfort at a more affordable price.

2. Are the awnings waterproof ?

Our awnings are water-resistant, but not fully waterproof. The fabrics are primarily designed to provide protection from the sun, but they can also handle light to moderate rain. For detailed information about each fabric's level of water resistance, please refer to the individual product descriptions.

3. How to connect the Wind Sun Rain Sensor to the Awnings?

Your installer can usually set up the wind sensor during the awning installation.

If you've received the sensor separately and need to pair it yourself, follow these steps:

  1. Open the back flap of your remote control.

  2. Press the P2 button (located in the top left corner) twice quickly.

  3. Ensure the wind sensor is turned ON, then press the P2 button on the sensor once.

If the pairing is successful, a blinking Wi-Fi icon will appear on the sensor to confirm the connection.

4. How to check the wind sensor is connected?

To test the wind sensor (ideally during daylight, preferably with some sunlight):

  1. Use the remote control to slightly open the awning.

  2. Manually spin the wind sensor's cups (the small spinning spoons) for at least 12 seconds.

If the sensor is properly connected, the awning should begin retracting automatically.

This confirms that the wind sensor is working.

You can also manually test the sun and rain sensor functions, if needed.

 
5. Do electric motorised awnings come with a manual crank?

Yes, all of our electric awnings include a detachable manual crank handle, allowing you to operate the awning manually in the event of a power outage.

Please note: If you use the manual crank, you may need to readjust the awning’s minimum and maximum projection settings using the Allen key provided.

6. Can awning be installed on a holo brick wall ?

Yes, installation on a hollow brick wall is possible. However, before proceeding, our certified installers can carry out a free on-site assessment to check the wall’s suitability. If needed, they may recommend additional safety fittings or reinforcement measures to ensure a secure installation.

If you’ve ordered your awning with our installation service and it turns out that installation is not possible due to the wall condition, we will arrange the return of the awning at no extra cost, and you will receive a full refund — including the survey and return delivery.

7. What is the delivery and installation lead time?

All our awnings are stocked in a UK-based warehouse (location details available at the bottom of this page).

Delivery typically takes between 2 to 10 working days, depending on driver availability and scheduling in your area. Whenever possible, we aim to offer same-day delivery and installation for added convenience. A pre-installation check will be carried out before any fitting begins.

The standard installation process usually takes between 3 to 5 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the awning.

8. What are the dimesions of the bracket for the full cassette awnings?

The main plate size is 15cm X 15cm.

9. What is the maximum Wind Speed an awning can withstand?

Please refer to the product description for specific details regarding each awning model.

Our awnings are designed to endure wind speeds of up to 20mph (32km/h), which is roughly the strength of a fresh breeze. However, this rating assumes consistent, steady winds. Sudden gusts, turbulent air, or irregular wind patterns can pose a much greater risk and potentially damage the awning.

Wind direction is also an important factor. Winds blowing upward (from below the awning) are particularly dangerous and can cause more strain than horizontal gusts.

All our awnings are reliability-tested in controlled environments at wind speeds up to 20mph (32km/h). However, these tests do not simulate extended exposure or unpredictable gusts, which may cause damage even within rated limits.

To protect your awning, we strongly advise retracting it in winds stronger than 20mph, regardless of how robust the structure or fabric may be.

10. Troubleshooting - Electric awning stops midway

If your electric awning stops operating halfway, it’s likely due to motor overheating. Don’t worry—this is a built-in self-protection feature designed to prevent damage. The awning will automatically reset and become operational again after approximately 30 minutes.

To assist the reset, you can unplug the awning from the power source, wait 30 minutes, and then plug it back in. This often helps clear minor issues.

Common Cause: Overheating Due to Improper Retraction Settings

Overheating typically occurs when the minimum retraction limit is set too far back (a negative position). You can identify this by listening to the awning when it fully retracts:

  • If the motor continues to hum or "buzz" after the awning is fully closed, it means the engine is still under pressure.

  • In this case, the minimum stop point needs manual adjustment to prevent the motor from overworking.

Important Note:

If your awning has been manually cranked—for example, during a power outage—you will also need to re-adjust the minimum and maximum extension limits using the Allen key provided.

12. Do Awnings require regular maintenance?

Yes, awnings benefit from regular maintenance and occasional adjustments to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Over time, especially after exposure to strong winds or sudden gusts, the angle of the awning may shift slightly.

We recommend checking and adjusting the awning’s positioning at least every six months to maintain stability and proper function. This small effort can help prevent long-term issues and keep your awning in excellent condition.

13. Warranty on Awnings

 1. Manufacturing Guarantee

We guarantee that our retractable awnings are free from manufacturing defects. This includes issues such as:

•⁠  ⁠Scratches on Inner Parts: Any scratches or damages found on the inner parts of the awning that are not a result of delivery will be covered under this guarantee.

•⁠  ⁠Incorrect Parts: If any incorrect parts have been manufactured and supplied, we will promptly replace them at no additional cost.

This Manufacturing Guarantee is valid for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase.

2. Coverage Exclusions

Please note that our guarantee does not cover the following:

•⁠  ⁠Broken Parts During Usage: Any parts that become broken or damaged as a result of regular use, misuse, or external factors are not covered under this guarantee. However, we offer replacement parts at a fair and reasonable price.

•⁠  ⁠Fabric Guarantee: The fabric of the retractable awning is covered under our guarantee for 14 days from the date of purchase. After this period, the fabric is not covered under any guarantee.

3. Installation Services

Intelroll Global Ltd. is a retail company, and we do not offer installation services. However, we can recommend trusted installers in your area. Please note that any installation services provided by third parties are not covered under this Guarantee Policy.

If you require an installer, a call-out charge starting from £90 will apply, depending on your location. The final cost will be confirmed by the installer directly.

4. How to Make a Claim

To make a claim under this Guarantee Policy, please contact our customer service team with your proof of purchase and details of the issue. We will review your claim and, if eligible, arrange for the replacement of the defective parts.

14. Process of installation payment, returns, callouts & reschedules?

To proceed with the installation of your patio awning, a deposit payment must be made via our Awning Installation Payment page.

Once the installation has been successfully completed and you're satisfied with the work, please send us a confirmation message, authorising the release of funds to the third-party installation team.

What’s Included in the Installation Fee:

  • Labour and on-site work

  • Up to 2 tubes of epoxy resin (sufficient for 2 brackets)

  • Additional fixings (screws, bolts, nuts, washers)

  • Threaded rod cutting if required

  • Custom adjustments and levelling

  • Certificate of installation

This price applies only to awnings ordered directly from Intelroll Global and must be paid before the delivery date. Orders placed after delivery may incur additional fees depending on location or callout requirements.

What’s Not Included:

  • Removal or disposal of existing awnings (£75 if requested)

  • Victorian style awnings or Dutch canopies are excluded

  • Callouts after installation or adjustment visits (£75 per callout)

  • Installation or wiring of lights or heaters

  • Additional cable supply (if the socket is more than 1.2m from the left-hand side of the awning)

  • Electrician services

  • Special bracket supply (e.g., L-shaped or gutter brackets)

Installers typically charge £75 for the removal of a previous awning. This only applies if the new installation takes place at the same time and property.

Important Notice:

Please ensure the installation area is accessible and ready on the agreed date. If the placeholder is not ready, a rescheduling fee of £75 will be applied.

15. Does the order include the installation cost, and does the installation payment cover delivery?

Please note that installation is not included in the price of the awning order. We work in partnership with an independent third-party installation company, and if you would like to book their service, the installation fee must be paid separately through our secure payment link.

Additionally, the installation payment only covers the cost of the installation itself and does not include delivery charges. Delivery is a separate service and will be calculated at checkout based on your location.

Returns for Sun Shade Sail Poles and Kits are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Unfortunately, we are unable to process returns after this period. Please ensure all items are unused, in their original condition, and returned with all components included.
